The dedicated staff, students, support staff, school council and administration would like to welcome you to Red Lake District High School, the most northern school in the Keewatin Patricia District School Board.  We are excited about this year and would like to celebrate the opportunities, pathways and instructional strategies that foster life-long learners.  We are committed to providing a safe, learner centred environment that challenges students to be their best.  Our focus remains on the success of all students and this is supported by all stakeholders.

Many changes have happened that we would like to share.  Our literacy coach, student success teacher, special education and guidance departments, have provided classroom support to teachers to ensure that the needs of all students are being met. Through a range of academic programs, social activities and extra curricular activities, we promote the academic, creative, social and emotional growth of our students.  We are dedicated to challenging students to be the best they can be.

We have a growing music program with all new instruments, two new aboriginal programs, an aesthetics and hairdressing program, manufacturing/welding and we have introduced a leadership program.  We were highly successful in the Construction High Skills Major and have expanded to include Mining.    The opportunities and partnerships that are available to students are growing steadily.

Students at RLDHS are encouraged to be involved in travel club, OSAID, IYA, student council, band, visual arts and drama projects, dances, and sports.   Students are encouraged to demonstrate leadership qualities in the classroom, at school, with sports teams, on council, and in the community.  We strive to model exemplary behaviour to reflect the Seven Grandfather teachings for we believe that a caring, safe, and respectful atmosphere is conducive to learning.  Together, we all demonstrate a real caring approach to learning and foster an environment where understanding of cultural differences is taught.

We continue to work collaboratively as a professional learning community with colleagues, parents and experts to improve the achievement of all students.  Thank you (meegwetch) for taking the time to learn about RLDHS and for giving us an opportunity to share in the education of your child.  We are very proud of our school and what it has to offer.  Let’s go RAMS!
